These Guiros are made from red paduk wood, chosen especially for its great resonance. The Igbo tribe of southeastern Nigeria has used these blocks for years in ceremonies and dances. To play them, hold the solid edge in your hand and strike the open edge with the stick. You can get different tones by hitting it in different places along the edge. The large block measures 8" x 4" and is a very comfortable size to hold in your hand. The large sells for $21.00
We also have available a smaller version - 5"x3" that sells for $15.00
